Make the invoice match how you quote

A plumbing job rarely has one price. There is usually a call-out, some labour, and a list of parts - a cylinder, a pump, a run of copper. Customers query invoices when they cannot see where the money went, so the clearest invoice lists each of those as its own line with a quantity and a unit price.
Invoito lets you add as many lines as the job needs and totals them to the penny, so a boiler service and a leaking tap on the same visit can sit on one invoice without any manual arithmetic.
  • Call-out or minimum charge as its own line
  • Labour by the hour or as a fixed price
  • Parts and materials itemised, so repeat customers can see what they paid for
  • A notes box for warranty or guarantee wording

VAT on plumbing work

If you are VAT registered, turn VAT on once in your business settings and every invoice shows your VAT number and the VAT on each line. Because VAT is calculated per line, you can charge different rates on different items when your circumstances call for it.
Whether a particular job is standard, reduced or zero rated depends on the work and the property - that is a question for HMRC guidance or your accountant, not something an invoicing tool should guess. If you are not VAT registered, leave VAT off and nothing VAT-related appears on your invoice.

Landlords, letting agents and regular customers

Plumbers often invoice the same landlords and agents again and again. Save each customer once, and when you start the next invoice Invoito can fill it in from their last one - same layout, same payment terms - so you only change what is different this time.
Agents that pay on monthly terms can be given a longer due date; private customers can be asked to pay on completion. Either way the due date and your bank details are printed on the invoice, so there is no chasing for account numbers.

Quote first, invoice second

For bigger jobs, create a quote, send it as a PDF, and when the customer says yes convert it into an invoice in one tap - the lines carry across, so nothing is retyped.
Invoito does not calculate Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) deductions. If a contractor deducts CIS from your payments, you can note it on the invoice, and your accountant or HMRC guidance should be your source for the tax treatment.

Common questions

Can I list parts and labour separately on a plumbing invoice?

Yes. Every line has its own description, quantity and unit price, so call-out, labour and each part can be shown separately.

Do I have to charge VAT?

Can I send the invoice from my phone on site?

Does Invoito handle CIS deductions?
